In 2019 Menzies returned to stage in David Farr’s adaptation of the hit Danish thriller The Hunt, directed by Rupert Goold at the Almeida Theatre. Other notable theatre productions are Irwin in Alan Bennett’s The History Boys (2006), which Nicholas Hytner directed at the Royal National Theatre, and Michael Blakemore’s West End production of Three Sisters (2003), for which he was nominated for the Ian Charleson Award. Menzies played the title role in Rupert Goold’s production of Hamlet (2005) at the Royal Theatre, Northampton, to an appreciative critical reception.
