Stage and screen actor, Billy Howle, is perhaps best known for his lead cinematic role in Bleecker Street’s, On Chesil Beach opposite Saoirse Ronan. Based on Ian McEwan’s novel of the same name. Billy can currently be seen in the five-part thriller, The Beast Must Die (2021), for BritBox in the UK, their first commission for the streaming platform and AMC (which first aired in May). Billy stars alongside an incredible cast, including Jared Harris, Cush Jumbo and Nathaniel Parker. Billy can also be seen in the widely acclaimed BBC thriller The Serpent (2021) as Herman Knippenberg, a former Dutch diplomat. The eight-part limited series is based on the crimes of serial killer Charles Sobhraj, who murdered young tourists between 1975–1976. In 2018, Billy played the role of Konstantin in the adaption of Chekhov’s play, The Seagull again opposite Saoirse Ronan. In the same year, he starred as the Prince of Wales in Netflix’s Outlaw King opposite Chris Pine. 2019 saw Billy featue in the global Sci-Fi Star Wars: The Rise Of The Skywalker (2019) where he played the role of Rey’s father. His theatre credits also include; Life Of Galileo (The Young Vic), Long Day’s Journey Into Night (Bristol Old Vic Theatre), Ghosts (BAM, New York),Europe (Donmar Warehouse) and The LittleMermaid (Bristol Old Vic).
