Allen started her career at KPIX-TV in San Francisco, first as an intern, then as a producer on Bay Sunday. She won an Emmy Award for an exclusive interview with Attallah Shabazz, Malcolm X’s oldest daughter in a program called “My Father, Malcolm X.”
