These engaging conversations are set in Mexico City and New York where actor, producer and director Diego Luna will be in charge of cooking and hosting conversations about timely societal issues with guests that represent different viewpoints. These conversations will be accompanied by the processes and spaces that go along with a meal.

Pan y Circo is back with four special episodes where the dinner ritual becomes a space for conversations about a variety of engaging topics. These engaging conversations are set in Mexico City and New York where actor, producer and director Diego Luna will be in charge of cooking and hosting conversations about timely societal issues with guests that represent different viewpoints. These conversations will be accompanied by the processes and spaces that go along with a meal.

Episode 201: Healthcare Access
The first episode, Healthcare Access, will question how the pandemic has added yet another burden to an already deficient healthcare system, while highlighting its current shortcomings. 
The topic on the table will focus on what Mexico and the region has done, in general, to save lives, including vaccination policies and civilian society participation. The conversation will also address which actions the government needs to take to adapt to the cultural, social and genetic needs of the population, as well as the current limits of public and private spheres.

Episode 202: The Crisis of Democracy
The special episode The Crisis of Democracy questions democracy through the relationship between the State and its citizens: why does democracy constantly lead to the triumph of leaders who do not fulfill their campaign promises? How to live in a democracy when violence is a constant? What alternatives can people create? Autocracy lurks behind this worldwide crisis.

The Crisis of Democracy has various voices at the table: Jesús Silva-Herzog Márquez, political analyst, writer and member of the Mexican Academy of Language; Angélica Maldonado, feminist and liaison coordinator for Aúna México; Álvaro Mena, Mayan from the Yucatan Peninsula and member of the National Indigenous Congress; Citlalli Hernández Mora, politician and general secretary of the Morena political party. The conversation will also be joined by Michelle Bachelet, doctor, former President of Chile and UN High Commissioner for Human Rights; Jorge Ramos, journalist and host of Noticiero Univisión and Al Punto; and Elisa Loncon, activist, Mapuche linguist and president of the Constitutional Convention of Chile.

Episode 203: Discriminate in Spanish
The third special, Discriminate in Spanish, tries to find an answer to a question that makes both Latin America and Spain uncomfortable: why the Conquest is used as a symbol of glory by some and as a pending grievance by others. More than five hundred years later, the echoes of Spain and its culture resonate throughout Latin America: in the language, the cuisine, the layout of cities, the investments of Spanish companies, Latin Americans who are proud of their Iberian ancestors and a myriad of other things. However, and despite the obvious miscegenation, old tensions are still below the surface.
