The Rig

The Rig is a character-driven mystery thriller following the crew of the Kinloch Bravo oil rig as they fight for survival after a strange fog cuts off all communication with the shore, and leaves them stranded in the fierce waves of the North Sea. With their helicopter not coming and supplies limited, Offshore Installation Manager (OIM) and rig boss, MAGNUS tries to guide his already fractured crew through the evolving crisis. But his increasingly desperate efforts to restore contact with the mainland are repeatedly shattered as tensions and paranoia rise, the rig’s systems fail, and a devastating accident brings them all face-to-face with the deadly dangers of one of the most extreme working environments on the planet.

Pictor Energy Company Rep ROSE is initially skeptical of the crew’s ominous theories about what’s going on outside, keen to get everyone back to work and keep the oil flowing. But as evidence mounts, her scientific curiosity pushes her to uncover the truth of the unnatural forces arrayed against them.

As loyalties are tested and alliances are made and broken, we learn more about the crew’s inner lives as they seek to understand both the force they are facing and their place in a rapidly changing world. The sins of the past weigh heavy here; and while most of the crew are desperate to return home, for others the way back is much less clear.

To make it out alive will take bravery,
heroism, sacrifice and a confrontation with
the consequences of the paths that brought them here. As when the crew finally discover the scale of the power they have awoken, they realise the greatest danger is not just to them, but to all those they’ve left behind on land.

Descrição dos episódios

Episode 1

Out on the North Sea, the Kinloch Bravo’s crew, under the management of oil company Pictor, find themselves stranded on their rig – first when their chopper is diverted and then by a mysterious fog that affects the entire oil field. Rig boss Magnus’ attempts to maintain control of his fractured crew are further thwarted when a horrifying accident and a revelation about the rig’s future results in a challenge to his leadership.

Episode 2

The appearance of the rig’s ‘Standby Vessel’ raises hopes of escape – leaving Rose until sunrise to try and work out the nature of the mysterious ash falling from the sky. But when Baz makes a miraculous recovery from his injuries, some in the crew start to wonder if the greatest danger is something far more insidious.

Episode 3

With Baz missing and presumed dangerous, the crew split into groups to search the labyrinthine production module. And Rose takes the painful decision to quarantine Fulmer. Magnus faces down a growing revolt when even Dunlin starts to question his authority. And when a critical system fails, threatening to destroy the Bravo, one of the crew must risk it all to save the rest.

Episode 4

Baz and Garrow get closer to understanding their mission when they discover hidden Pictor equipment in the pump control room. When a glimmer of hope turns sour, Magnus is confronted by the ghosts of the past and loses his grip with the crew. Taking command, Rose is instantly faced with an impossible choice.

Episode 5

New arrivals from the Kinloch Charlie immediately make their presence felt, as Pictor’s fixer Coake enlists a group to undermine a weakened Magnus and Rose and force their way to the pump control. But when Coake’s reckless actions lead to both tragedy for the crew and a new wave of hostility from the force that has infiltrated the rig, the crew unite to demand answers.

Episode 6

Scores are settled and mysteries revealed as a cornered Coake is pushed to explain the true reason for his mission onboard. Meanwhile, Rose and Fulmer uncover the mysterious force’s devastating intention and must convince Magnus to put his personal demons to rest and lead the crew in one final bid for their survival and his redemption.
