Alonso can next be seen leading the cast in the independent, psychological thriller, from director Felipe Mucci, Detained, which will do the festival route in 2023. Most recently, Alonso can be seen in Guy Ritchie’s Cash Truck alongside Jason Statham and Josh Hartnett. He also starred opposite John Boyega, Will Poulter and John Krasinski in Kathryn Bigelow’s Detroit as well as portraying the heroic character Tsu’tey in James Cameron’s megahit Avatar. His other film credits include Universal’s Fast & Furious 4: Fast & Furious, and Sam Mendes’ Jarhead.
Laz recently heavily recurred on the hit series L.A.’s Finest starring Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba. Previously he led the cast on the A&E’sBreakout Kings, and had strong supporting role in the uber popular BET limited series, “The Bobby Brown Story,” and the critically acclaimed drama Southland, as well as endless TV credits.
In 2011, Alonso showed off his leading man skills in the Columbia Pictures hit romantic comedy Jumping the Broom, for which he received a 2012 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actor in a Motion Picture. He was chosen one of Variety’s Top Ten Actors to Watch in 2009.
