Scott Flavelle oversaw the race course design, safety, rescue, and the fixed rope climbing sections of Eco-Challenge Fiji. He is an internationally certified mountain guide and film producer, who has been designing expedition races since the British Columbia Eco-Challenge in 1996. His work and passions have taken him to hazardous terrain and deep wilderness in numerous countries around the world to pursue adventures, race course designing, expedition filming, mountain industry safety, and mountain tourism. He has a vast array of experience in the art of risk management and contingency planning and lives in Pemberton, British Columbia. His recreational pursuits include fast and light long-distance ski tours, paragliding, climbing, and whitewater kayaking.
