Cara is currently in production for a Telltale Games/Deck Nine video game based on her character, Camina Drummer, from the hit television show The Expanse. Most recently, she starred alongside Harrison Ford and Omar Sy as Françoise in the blockbuster hit film adaptation of The Call of the Wild (20th Century Studios). She played starring roles in the romantic comedy Red Rover and the family drama Trouble in the Garden, both of which premiered at the Whistler International Film Festival 2018, where she was named a “Star to Watch”. Cara’s first role in a feature film was the critically-acclaimed Empire of Dirt, which premiered at TIFF and earned her a nomination for the 2014 Canadian Screen Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role. She also played leading roles in the TIFF short films We Forgot to Break Up (2017) and It’s Nothing (2019).
In television, Cara is a series regular playing Camina Drummer on the critically-acclaimed television show The Expanse (Amazon Original). Prior to that, Cara starred as the series lead in the CBC series Strange Empire. Other selected TV credits include Letterkenny (Comedy Network), Republic of Doyle (CBC), King (Showcase), Darknet, and Inhuman Condition (Shaftesbury).
Cara began her career in theatre, starring in new Canadian plays, notably Tout Comme Elle (Luminato Festival) and the one-woman show Stitch (Summerworks—Spotlight Award for Best Performance). Cara won a DORA Award for best ensemble performance alongside Meghan Follows in Margaret Atwood’s The Penelopiad (Nightwood).
Cara was named one of the Top 13 People to Watch (Toronto Star, 2013), a TIFF Rising Star (TIFF, 2013) and one of the 15 Canadian Rising Stars (Deadline Hollywood, 2017).
