Chloe Bailey
Chloe Bailey, born July 1, 1998 in Atlanta, GA, rose to fame as a member of the Grammy-nominated sister duo Chloe x Halle. The group caught the attention of Beyoncé and was immediately signed to her Parkwood Entertainment company after having performed covers of pop songs online. It was their soulful rendition of Beyoncé’s own “Pretty Hurts” that caught the attention of the mogul’s Parkwood Entertainment.
Their debut EP, Sugar Symphony, was released in April 2016. Later in 2016, they made cameo appearances in Beyoncé's Lemonade visual album. They later served as Beyoncé's opening act for the European leg of The Formation World Tour. In March 2018, the duo released their debut album, "The Kids Are Alright", written and executively produced by them with Chloe Bailey handling a bulk of the production. The majority of the widely lauded album was recorded in their home studio with Chloe x Halle also arranging their mellifluous vocals. In May 2018, it was announced that they would be the opening act for the US leg of JAY-Z and Beyoncé’s On the Run II Tour, alongside DJ Khaled. Fans and critics alike adored the group’s performances.
From splashing the pages of countless major publications, performing at the Super Bowl, BET Awards, The Today Show, Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and Essence Festival, and featuring on Michelle Obama's charity single, "This Is for My Girls," with Kelly Clarkson, Missy Elliott, Kelly Rowland, Janelle Monae and holding five Grammy nominations Chloe x Halle soared to global stardom.
Chloe Bailey continues to record with Chloe x Halle while also pursuing a solo career.
She signaled the potential of solo music when she recorded her own version of the Nina Simone classic for the Music for the Movement Volume III – Liberated EP that was released on June 18, 2021. The new music is one of four EPs Disney Music Group and ESPN’s The Undefeated are releasing to pay their support of Black lives, culture, and social justice initiatives. She stunned a global audience when she performed the song on the ABC broadcast Juneteenth: Together We Triumph – A Soul of a Nation Special Event and again on Good Morning America.
But she shattered expectation when she debuted her first solo single “Have Mercy,” which quickly became a bona-fide radio smash after she debuted a performance of the single on the MTV Video Music Awards this past September. She followed it up with additional performances on The Tonight Show and The American Music Awards and has been featured as the cover story at several top-tier publications.
She also is continuing a movie and television career that started when she was a mere five years old playing the role of Little Lilly in the feature film “The Fighting Temptations.”
She has also been seen on the big screen in films “Last Holiday” and “Joyful Noise” as well as on several television shows before her most recent cast regular on Freeform’s hit show “Grown-ish.” Also announced by Deadline, she will star in Miramax's supernatural thriller “The Georgetown Project” with Russell Crowe and Ryan Simpkins. The film is written and directed by Joshua John Miller and M.A. Fortin.
