Kita Updike is a half-Chippewa, half-African American actress and model (Vogue Italia and T: New York Times Style Magazine) on the rise. She's also known for her stage work with companies including The Public Theater, Eugene O'Neill Theater Center, LAByrinth Theater Company, and Women’s Project (WP) Theater.
Upcoming, she will star as Nellie Morris in the Amazon Original series The Horror of Dolores Roach, opposite Justina Machado. Based on the Spotify podcast of the same name, the modern Sweeney Todd-inspired story follows Dolores Roach (Machado), who, upon her release from 16 years in prison, finds respite by working as a massage therapist in the basement of an empanada shop. Set in the vibrant neighborhood of Washington Heights, the show is both an homage to the people who live there and a macabre urban legend of love, betrayal, gentrification, and survival of the fittest. Produced by Amazon Studios, Spotify, and Blumhouse, the series will premiere this summer on Prime Video.
Updike currently resides in New York.
