Matthew Le Nevez currently stars as Cal Issac alongside Stana Katic in the Amazon Original series Absentia. Having forged a diverse and rewarding career in film and television, it was his portrayal of Dr. Patrick Reid opposite Asher Keddie in Network Ten’s popular Australian series Offspring that garnered him national attention.
Le Nevez graduated from the National Institute of Art (NIDA) in 1999 and made his feature film debut in Alex Proyas’s Garage Days. In 2004, the breakthrough television role in the ABC mini-series Marking Time won Le Nevez an Australian Film Institute (AFI) Award for Best Actor in a Supporting or Guest Role.
Other television credits for Le Nevez include prominent Australian series and telemovies such as The Society Murders in 2007 for which he won a TV Logie award for Most Outstanding Actor, Love My Way, Blue Heelers, The Postcard Bandit, White Collar Blue, All Saints, MDA and Love Child. Other notable roles include his portrayal of Australian war photographer Damien Parer in Parer’s War and opposite Elizabeth Debicki in Foxtel’s award-winning series The Kettering Incident. Other prominent roles include depictions of Australian sporting icons, racing car driver Peter Brock in Network Ten’s Brock, and legendary cricketer Dennis Lillee in Network Nine’s Howzat! Matthew’s more recent Australian credits include the Foxtel produced feature film Australia Day which was released late 2017.
Matthew’s US credits include the Lifetime series The Lizzie Borden Chronicles starring Christina Ricci, and the 20th Century Fox/ABC pilot Runner opposite Paula Patton, both in 2015, and ABC Studios Unit Zero, produced by and starring Toni Collette. Le Nevez also starred in Harry and Jack Williams’ penned Amazon Original series The Widow opposite Kate Beckinsale.
