Meredith MacNeill stars as the pencil-pushing, rule abiding Guns & Gangs Detective Samantha Wazowski in the new female buddy cop drama Pretty Hard Cases.
She most recently served as co-creator, writer, producer and star of the CBC’s award-winning hit sketch comedy series Baroness von Sketch Show. MacNeill has received much critical acclaim during its existing run on CBC and IFC, culminating in multiple Canadian Screen Awards including Best Sketch Comedy Show & Ensemble Performance, an ACTRA Award and a Canadian Comedy Award.
Previously she was both a writer and regular cast member in the hit satirical news program This Hour Has 22 Minutes

MacNeill began working with the Royal Shakespeare Company. She later went on to work with Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, Theatre de Complicite, Bush, and Arcola Theatre in London. She has also been featured in many film and television projects both in Canada and the UK. Some of her work includes Your Money or Your Wife, Big News from Grand Rock, Peep Show, Frequently Asked Questions About Time Travel, Confetti and Man Stroke Woman.
MacNeill is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, England.
She is from Nova Scotia.
