In addition to Upload, Amell is set to produce and star in the motion picture Float, a movie based on Kate Marchant’s popular Wattpad rom-com story. Marchant’s Float has accumulated more than 25.5 million reads on Wattpad and is among the top 20 stories in the teen romance category on the user-generated fiction platform. The movie will shoot in spring 2021 for a 2022 release.
Currently, Amell can be seen starring in Constantin Film’s new adaptation to add to the ever-expanding Resident Evil movie franchise, Resident Evil: Welcome To Racoon City. In the film, he plays the lead role of the iconic game character, Chris Redfield. Johannes Roberts wrote and directed the film, an official origin story adaptation with faithful ties to Capcom’s classic survival horror games. This story is set in 1998 on a fateful night in Raccoon City. Sony Pictures’ Screen Gems will distribute the film domestically. The film premiered November 24, 2021, in theaters worldwide.
In December of 2019, Amell released the hit sci-fi thriller Code 8 that he produced with his cousin Stephen Amell (CW’s “Arrow”), where they also starred in the lead roles. The movie was a huge hit on VOD and theaters. The sequel to Code 8 will shoot in summer 2021 to air on Netflix TBD 2022.
In 2020, Amell had two new Netflix projects. He reprised his lead role in the comedy horror film, The Babysitter 2 for director McG and starred as the male lead in the romantic comedy, Desperados. Robbie’s other motion picture credits include lead roles in CBS Films’ The Duff, Netflix’s The Babysitter and the motion picture Nine Lives.
His TV credits include The X-Files reboot and The CW’s The Tomorrow People, among others.
Born in Toronto, Canada, Amell resides in Los Angeles with his wife, actress, Italia Ricci and their son. In his downtime, Amell is obsessed with cars and loves sports (especially hockey and golf) and video games.
