In a career that spans close to 30 years, Tobey Maguire has produced over 10 and acted in 20 plus feature films. Having produced Spike Lee’s 25th Hour in 2002, in 2009 he established the production company Material Pictures. In 2011 he partnered with producer Matthew Plouffe and together they produced Edward Zwick’s Pawn Sacrifice; J Blakeson’s The 5th Wave; and Craig Zobel’s Z For Zachariah. In 2014 they  partnered with investor Richard Weinberg and in 2017 produced three films from first time feature directors: Robin Bissell’s The Best of Enemies; Paul Down Colaizzo’s Brittany Runs A Marathon which premiered in U.S. Dramatic Competition at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival and won the audience award; and Ninian Doff’s Boyz In The Wood, which opened the 2019 SxSW Midnighters Program and won the audience award. Material most recently wrapped Kerem Sanga’s The Violent Heart.
