Ugla Hauksdóttir is an Icelandic writer/director based in New York City. A graduate of the Columbia University MFA Film Directing program, Hauksdóttir was awarded the prestigious Director's Guild of America Student Film Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Women's Category for her short film How Far She Went (2016).
Hauksdóttir's journey began in the highly esteemed Fine Arts program at The Cooper Union, where she studied photography and experimental film. Her body of work is defined by poetic and visual storytelling and includes a collection of narrative and experimental shorts that have screened at major film festivals worldwide.

In 2016, Hauksdóttir began a partnership with production company Join Motion Pictures (Heartstone, Winter Brothers, Whale Valley), and the short film Sealskin became the fruit of their collaboration. Sealskin is currently in post-production while the team develops Hauksdóttir's first feature film.
