Prime Video To Exclusively Premiere Amazon Original Jigen Daisuke on October 13
A live-action film starring Tetsuji Tamayama as the most beloved character in the Lupin III’s series,

TOKYO—27 July 2023—Today, Prime Video announced that it will exclusively premiere Amazon Original Jigen Daisuke on October 13 in Japan and in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. Amazon Studios and TMS Entertainment, Inc., the producer of Lupin III, co-produced the live-action movie directed by Hashimoto Hajime, and starring Tetsuji Tamayama as the cool, loyal, and sorrowful Jigen Daisuke, the most popular character in the Lupin III series. Lupin III is a manga and anime series created by Monkey Punch that has been popular in Japan and around the world for over 50 years. The original manga series premiered in 1967, and 1971 saw the broadcast of the first TV anime series (PART1). Since then, numerous TV specials and movie versions have been produced, and the series has become a beloved national work. Lupin III has been adapted into numerous animated series, including Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro (1979), In addition to Lupin III vs. Detective Conan THE MOVIE (2013), the first feature film directed by Hayao Miyazaki; the live-action film Lupin III (2014), starring Shun Oguri; the stage production Lupin III: Chasing the Queen's Necklace -Fancy Guy! (2015) by the Takarazuka Revue's Snow Troupe; Lupin III: The First (2019), directed by Takashi Yamazaki and the Amazon Original Lupin the Third vs. Cat's Eye (2023) on Prime Video. The latest in the series tells the origin story of Jigen Daisuke, Lupin's one-and-only sidekick and the world's greatest gunfighter. With his chic appearance and hard-boiled looks, he is an important character who is as popular as the main character Lupin. Jigen Daisuke is once again played by Tetsuji Tamayama, who also portrayed the character in the live-action movie Lupin III.

I am beyond excited to being able to play the character again.”

In the special trailer released today, Jigen Daisuke is seen in an impressive hat and dark suit, with a cigarette in his mouth. When Jigen realizes that someone is aiming at his back, he takes out his favorite gun, the Combat Magnum, and defeats the enemy with his signature "rapid fire in 0.3 seconds” technique. The video also features Jigen's punch line, "This is getting interesting," which he uses when he is in a pinch or when the case becomes extremely difficult.
