Sherman joins Prime Video’s expanding lineup of Thursday Night Football on-air talent that includes Al Michaels, Kirk Herbstreit, and Tony Gonzalez, with more to be announced over the coming weeks

NEW YORK–June 14, 2022–Prime Video announced today that NFL cornerback Richard Sherman will be joining its NFL pregame, halftime, and postgame shows this coming season, when the service presents its exclusive coverage of Thursday Night Football. Sherman will join Pro Football Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez on the streamer’s wraparound coverage of each TNF game, as Prime Video continues to add top-tier talent to its Thursday Night Football roster.

Sherman’s outstanding 11-year NFL career followed his graduation from Stanford University and a selection in the fifth round of the 2011 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks. He led the NFL in interceptions in 2013, the same season he helped propel the Seahawks to their first Super Bowl victory. Sherman and the Seahawks reached the Super Bowl once again the following season, but ultimately lost an intense battle against the New England Patriots in the final seconds. The lockdown cornerback earned five All-Pro distinctions throughout his career and was twice nominated for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award for his tireless work in the community. Sherman spent seven seasons in Seattle as a member of the Seahawks before joining the San Francisco 49ers. Last season he played with Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

“We’re excited to welcome Richard right off the field and onto our Thursday Night Football set,” said Jared Stacy, director of Global Live Sports Production, Prime Video. “Few people are better equipped to give insight into the modern NFL than Richard. Fans will love seeing his big personality and brilliant football mind on display every Thursday night on Prime Video.”

“I’m beyond excited to start this journey with Prime Video and be part of this incredible crew they are assembling,” said Sherman. “It’s going to be the start of something truly special.”

Sherman joins a growing roster of Prime Video Thursday Night Football on-air talent that includes legendary play-by-play announcer Al Michaels, five-time Emmy-winning analyst Kirk Herbstreit, as well as Pro Football Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez. Fred Gaudelli, producer of seven Super Bowls and a recent inductee into the Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame, will serve as the executive producer of Thursday Night Football’s game coverage. Multi-Emmy award winners Mike Muriano and Spoon Daftary are the executive and senior coordinating producers of Thursday Night Football’s pregame, halftime, and postgame coverage. Additional members of the TNF on-air team will be announced over the coming weeks.

Kicking off September 15, Prime Video will become the first streaming service to air a season-long exclusive national broadcast package with the NFL. The 11-year deal includes 15 regular-season games and one preseason game per year, with Prime Video also delivering new pregame, halftime, and postgame shows as well as fan-favorite interactive features like X-Ray and Next Gen Stats powered by AWS. Each Thursday Night Football game will also stream live on Twitch and will be available on over-the-air TV stations in the two home markets of the competing teams.
